In terms of external network links, this involves global peering over multi-homed, redundant carriers including Tiscali, DE-CIX, Global Crossing, KPN, TeliaSonera and Lambdanet; a total uplink configuration that exceeds 50 Gbps of overall network capacity, all of which consists of premium, Tier-1 bandwidth based on two diverse, underground fiber entry paths. We also publish real-time statistics to demonstrate the actual efficiency of our network; these can be viewed at any time by anyone who is interested in our network throughput.
Of course, internally, solid networks require enterprise-grade network components. Here too we deliver -- our use of Cisco and Foundry network components ensures both high network reliability as well as the elimination of any single points of failure. Moreover, our network is designed from its core for zero packet loss.
The actual physical and electrical integrity of our server platforms is also ensured through the use of a world-class datacenter located in Frankfurt, Germany. In addition to intense physical security (including 24/7 armed guards, keycard/pad access, CCTV, waterless fire suppression and VESDA) and round-the-clock technical staffing, the datacenter is equipped with redundant Liebert HVAC units and two redundant power systems: one based on UPS/battery power, the other on diesel-electric generators.
All of this ensures servers are safe from tampering, available to skilled support personnel, kept at optimal temperatures, and remain powered and active through even extremely lengthy power failures.
